Do mopeds have clutches?
Clarify 'moped' The old definition of motor/pedal as 'moped' motor assisted bicycle often had a clutch for the motor- either a simple plate friction clutch or a centrifugal clutch. Legal definition some states note clutch only for engine on the pedal equipped vehicles, no transmission allowed to be classed as a moped. I'll not consider the 'moped' licensed scooters with CVT or geared transmissions in this response as they do not fit into the old definition- they are a legal class allowance included with mopeds for administrative convenience of a state and may vary between states. A belt with movable idler pulley might be considered a clutch.
